LAST CALL as I have to purchase tickets today.

I have Sae-Yoon Lee, Ashley Jackson, and Caleb Guyton as confirmed. Anyone else want to go? Sadly, I am not going as still fighting this flu.

Note that my Art Appreciation and Visual Perception students will be required to visit the Gibbes Museum at some point during the semester so this helps towards classwork, too.

Thanks,

Prof Silverman

Through the support of the School of Humanities, we are able to take a limited number of students to hear this lecture on Wednesday, February 8 at 6 pm. The museum is also open for college students for free after the lecture.

In order to purchase tickets and put in special orders, I need a confirmed response from any student or faculty who would like to attend NO LATER THAN FRI, FEB 3.

Please share this with others who might be interested.

Thanks,

TRS

Thomas Schomberg's world-renowned sculptures are exhibited and collected internationally. One of his most iconic works is the famed statue of "Rocky" that stands on the grounds of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, inspired by the movie Rocky III. Schomberg's sculptures are also on view at many famous sports venues such as Yankee Stadium, the Houston Astrodome, and the San Diego Hall of Champions Museum.

Over the next several years, Schomberg is focused on a major series of work that embraces his love for the athletic figure, but evolves the human form into sculptures that are less didactic in nature and more emotional in theme. Schomberg is currently working with Brookgreen Gardens - an award winning sculpture garden and wildlife preserve, located just south of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina - to design a sculpture commissioned expressly for the site.

Schomberg will speak about sculpture and process, and the artist's role in society today.
